I’m going to switch my vegie garden to above-ground boxes.  I have horsetail and grass and a million other weeds and I’m done with spending my time squatting down to pull them out of the garden.  Joseph Spangler has made me a couple of boxes and since I cannot now make the changeover, put one in front of the coin laundry to share the idea with the community.  If you like the idea, he is available to make some for you.  I’ll be bringing it home in the autumn.  And that is just around the corner!   My flower garden is in its second peaking phase, and I’m not sure if there is a third.  Goes so fast.

I was shocked by the lack of text for this edition. Looks like main street at 6 pm.  Checked in all my files:  delete, junk, personal, to see if something happened.  Am not going to do two pages for the “dates, times, etc.” but it will be on the online version. wh

I received a phone message from Harold that he will soon be bringing his blueberries to New Denver so watch for him with his truck under the big maple tree near the Glacier View Garage

IN SEARCH OF a farm or acreage for rent with room/accessibility for HORSES and their human caregiver. I am an educator/philosopher who is intending to set up an Equine Sanctuary and Service in the New Denver area which will support ex-racehorses (especially broodmares) and work with human clients who wish to be with the horses in various therapeutic (non-riding) capacities. I am looking for a landowning, animal loving, sponsor/partner to discuss possibilities for a rental arrangement so that I can come into the area to conduct further research and determine a permanent site for this year round community enhancing endeavor. Please contact me, Nicole Thibault, through e-mail for further details, questions and suggestions.  slowhandequine@gmail.com]

Thank you to all the people who, once again, helped to make the Great Canadian Dog Show a success.  A special thanks goes to PALs, Nakusp Veterinary Clinic and the Slocan Lake Gallery Society for providing the prizes and also to all those who helped set up and clear the area, run and judge the Show. Above all, thank you to all the dogs who participated and brought along their owners. Penelope 🐾
